A visit to Robin’s, part 1
Posted in Restaurants, Robin's on September 6, 2007 | 7 Comments »

During the heat wave, we went to Robin’s.

We found Aaron‘s name on the menu. And Steve Haderlein’s name. And Paul Little‘s name.

I wish I had an inflatable beer bottle.
(To go with our inflatable Godzilla.)
Robin was there, and he came over and said hi. By then my camera was put away and I was eating my salad and some of Gavin’s ribs, and I was also feeling a little star struck, so I didn’t get a picture.

Word on the street is that Robin Salazar of Robin’s Wood Fire BBQ & Grill, and former candidate for Pasadena District 1 city council seat is going to name a burger after Aaron Proctor. From Aaron’s blog this morning:
“So – anyway – Robin’s idea? He’s putting me in the menu in about a month under the Pat E. Melt. He’s also adding a “Wall of Fame” to his restaurant and wants me to be a part of that. Awesomeness. I’ve never had a burger attributed to me in my life. He said it might mention it’s a favorite of “Former and future Mayoral candidate, wrestling all-star, future gubernatorial, future presidential candidate Aaron Proctor”….
…Robin also apologized for the “incident” that started it all back at the Affordable Housing Forums.
Apology accepted, barbecue sauce under the bridge. I also stifle any insults I’ve hurled at him….” (link)

A few weeks ago, Erin of erin’s kitchen, Mr. Erin, Gavin and I went to Chung King in San Gabriel for Sechuan food. We were inspired by a Jonathan Gold review, and it was as good as he said it would be (although none of us were as into the pig ear as he was).
Erin has more details on her blog: The Spice is Right at Chung King, San Gabriel.
